One-Day Weekend

This weekend was a very short one. I had to work yesterday (Saturday) which is not normal for my line of work. My company had a big three-day warehouse sale, so the entire corporate office was pitching in. I'm extremely exhausted by the way lol! Anyway, I have a lot of errands to run in the few hours left for the weekend. I wore this simple but comfortable dress yesterday. Once again, I accessorized with my favorite leopard print handbag. I'm serious when I say that it goes with EVERY solid color under the rainbow. Wearing it with another print will bring me into the realm of patterning mixing, and that's a beast I'm still trying to tackle. Who knows...maybe I'll do a post on pattern mixing sometime soon ;) Until then, stay classy ladies.

Plum

This skirt was hidden in my closet for months before I pulled it out and decided to give it a try, and now I'm wondering why it took so long! The thing that attracted me to it at first was the color...plum...or at least that's what I'm calling it. I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of different ideas I've come up with to style it. For today, I'm going with this plum/blue combo. This isn't a combo that I would've thought of on the spot. Sometimes it takes a simple thing as seeing two pieces of clothing lying next to each other to get an inspiration. I loved the unexpected inspiration I got with these colors, and when accessorized with my leopard handbag, I loved it even more. I love pearls, and this multi-layered pearl necklace coupled with the puffed sleeves of the blouse added some mandatory feminine details to the outfit. The blouse is slightly lose, so the belt helps to create a better shape and is a great accessory.

Not Made for Walking

I've never really walked much in these shoes before, and believe me when I say that these Jessica Simpson pumps were not made for walking! Since they are one of my favorite pairs, I won't be getting rid of them anytime soon. Looks like I'll be getting some insoles for them. Either that or invest in some dressy flats for those events that require walking. I'm not quite ready to go lower on my heel height, so insoles it is! It won't hurt to have a pair of evening flats handy though :)

Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend. I sure did.....

Classic - Red, Black, and White

Red, black, and white...an ever popular color combination, but an always classic one. Red is often the go-to pop of color for black and white, but when you think about it, you can never go wrong with it. I love this trio of colors even more when the black and white are mixed together in a pattern as in today's skirt. I've had this skirt for 2 or 3 years now, and it's still my favorite. No other skirt that I've bought since then can shed a light to it. I've paired it with many tops of all colors of the rainbow. The color and pattern is a great canvas to add a splash of any color. I chose to contrast the red top with this white necklace that I bought from Charming Charlie back in June at my last DFW Blogger Meetup. I've accessorized it with many outfits since purchasing it, and I was somewhat surprised at its versatility.

As I was taking these pics, some workmen decided to start working on whatever they were doing in the background. I didn't really mind at first, but the dust in the air from them driving through the dirt...not cool, not cool at all!

Word of the Day: Chambray

Call me a late bloomer, but since I've started to blog, I've learned a thing or two about fashion that I never knew before. For example, the type of shirt that I'm wearing today is called "chambray." I figured there might be some other poor soul out there, like myself, that was completely oblivious to this word, so, I might as well share what I know.

Chambray  - a fine lightweight fabric (mostly cotton) woven with white threads across a colored warp (often blue)

Warp (or weaving) - the set of lengthwise yarns that are held in tension on a frame.

It looks something like this...

That's a bit confusing, so, to put it simpler, my shirt today is a blue chambray shirt.

I paired the outfit with my favorite leopard handbag that goes with EVERYTHING, and added a little pop with the mustard sandals. The belt helps to give the rather shapeless shirt some much needed life and adds more detail to the outfit.

Today was a very long and tiring day, hence, my droopy eyes :(

On another note, I love the contrast of my pink nail polish with my shoes. It's pretty much the only color I've used all summer.

More Leopard?

Can a girl have too much leopard? To buy or not to buy....THAT is the question!
